All Sony players are great on the durability issue. I've dropped my sF's numerous times with no damage whatsoever. SonicStage is annoying because once music is synched to the device it can't be transferred to another computer. This software is simply awful--I found myself hating it all over again in the few minutes it took get some tunes on the NW-E It's poorly laid out and does not organize music in an intuitive fashion.
For me, this is a deal breaker.
