Full Member. Mar 11, 11 0 38 Kentucky. I've been interested in this one for a while. Love Spartan Blades and have one of their Horkos blades. Others take the view that an edged weapon is pointless if you have a gun.

I, however, am a big fan. I firmly believe that a knife is an excellent balance to a gun, especially if it is offset to your weak side. It is a very simple design, streamlined for a single purpose. More than once early in the GWOT, reports came in of bad guys getting the drop on our troops, jamming the pistol in the holster as they attempted to draw. The CQB tool is an answer to that. Rip it out of its sheath, commence to stabbing.

As you create distance, draw your Glock and finish the job. Game over. I prefer to carry mine horizontal on my weak side, with my belt, slid into cord on the sheath lash points. Well finished, sturdy and no rough edges. Amazing training knife! Very good, sturdy quality!

Great for training and getting the fundamentals down! Will be getting the regular CQB blade here soon! Fantastic knife, it is exactly as advertised. Perfect size to tuck in your waist band tethered to your belt with one of their para cord loops. Knife and sheath come out together to a safe distance to clear your body then the knife comes out of the sheath.

I also got the trainer to safely practice technique. Bought Two trainers for combatives practice. Great quality and craftsmanship. The primary purpose is to get an attacker off of you quickly and then get back to your primary weapon. The ring on the end of the knife allows the user to rapidly deploy the knife aids retention and allows you to transition back to your firearm while still maintaining the knife in your hand.

During the course I really enjoyed the simplicity of its use and how easy it was to deploy the knife from my plate carrier where I had placed the dagger in the upper center of my gear. I noticed the knife was extremely light and very comfortable to hold in my hand. Using the knife was as easy as advertised and very convenient not having to stow or drop the knife in order to transition back to my rifle. During this week of training I had the opportunity to put the knife into use on utilizing a BBQ pig to replicate cutting into real tissue.

I first attempted some traditional slashing motions followed by a couple different angles of stabs. The Knife was very sharp however due to it being very light and having a slim blade that is only sharpened halfway down the blade it was not very efficient at slashing and did not cut very deep even when using a significant amount of power behind it.
